3.1 The new uniform shops new hours went into effect today. The new hours are Tuesday 8.30 – 9.30, Thursday closed, Friday 2.15 – 3.15. Belinda advised that she has just placed a big stock order today that doesn’t require payment until September.
3.2 To save more money on the garden bed Rob will use rocks around the school instead of steel. Will work on it the week before the working bee in case it needs more work done on it at the following week. Will work on the bed Sunday 19th August, will only require 3 – 4 people. Working bee will be 26th August 9.30am. Simon advised that the school has just put a bid on a 10K litre water tank, be mindful as it may be installed around the corner.
3.3 Run Around Australia – Liz advised that SPPS is still national leader with 88,782 kms. We have had wonderful support from the students and the families but most of all our local community is keen for us to win. Our nearest national competitor is Tomaree at 28,937 kms. They could still fill that gap by travel dockets and/or email addresses. Despite the competition closing on the 22nd June, the winner won’t be announced until the 2nd of July. Liz thanks Tristen, Kylie & Simon for their constant support and assistance.
3.4 Penny asked Simon if the computer ergonomics mattered if we move onto laptops and iPads. Simon advised that a school computer has a life of 4 years then updated. Laptops are more expensive than workstations so less available.
3.5 All agreed to giving Belinda access to the canteen account and become a signatory.
Moved: Kylie Murchie, Seconded: Penny Whatman.

5. Reports.
5.1 President’s Report.
5.1.1 Tristen thanked all who had supported and driven our success so far in the Run Around Australia campaign and encouraged everyone to continue the drive. Special thanks to Liz Richards for driving it so well.
5.1.2 It’s been a real pleasure to be involved in several areas of the P & C from the Uniform Shop to the SIFC and several others as well. From my point of view I am really pleased with how we are working together to achieve goals – thank you.
Moved: Tristen Cosgrove, Seconded: Corrie Howes.
5.2 Principals Report
5.2.1 I would like to acknowledge and thank Liz and all the parents and students involved in the coordination and promotion of the Run Around Australia initiative. We are in a real chance of winning with your efforts, well done and keep that momentum going.
5.2.2 Current upgrades to the school’s wireless facilities; I have ordered 3 access points that will enable approximately 120 students access at a cost of $4,000. Hoping they are operational by commencement of Term 3.
5.2.3 The school is keen to purchase a number of iPads. The SRC will hold a mufti day fundraiser on June 15th to supplement this. In Term 3 we have programmed another fundraiser for iPads, our annual walkathon.
5.2.4 The primary athletics carnival is planned for Tuesday 19th June to be held at the Tomaree Sporting Complex. Parental assistance is always welcome and the P & C is invited to have a canteen on the day, if interested.
5.2.5 The teachers are currently finalising each child’s Semester 1 report. It is expected that reports will be sent home on Tuesday 26th June.
5.2.6 Our P-K and 6-7 transition programs have been a strong focus for the school over the past few years. Year 6 has recently had ‘taster’ lessons. This is a high administrative task and we ask parents to supply required information promptly so we can forward to the relevant High School. We currently have about 50 students on our database for Kindergarten 2013. Storytime sessions will be held on August 22nd, September 5th & September 19th, as well as parent info night on Tuesday 30th October in the hall. Belinda offered to open the uniform shop for fitting Term 4, week 5 or 7.
5.2.7 As early Term 3 is shaping up to be an extremely busy period for SPPS, we’ve decided to delay our Education Week activities until Week 7. The first 3 weeks will include Musica Viva, Life Education, Stage 3 will have their camp and Week 4 is the Tomaree Music Festival.
Moved: Simon Parson, Seconded: Belinda Lavers.

5.4 Canteen Report. No report submitted.
5.4.1 Penny advised that the canteen will supply a canteen for the athletics carnival. All agreed to pay Paula as it was her day off. Estimate losses from freezer accidently turned off by knocked plug as $45-60.
Moved: Penny Whatman, Seconded: Tristen Cosgrove.
5.5 Uniform Report.
5.5.1 We all discussed the fact that we were selling uniform items at below cost. We all agreed that hats should be sold as close to cost as possible, but not for profit doesn’t mean we have to be unprofitable. All in attendance looked at all of Belinda’s costs and other school uniform prices and agreed on the higher increase of the two. We made this decision based on the fact that suppliers will increase their prices again on the 1st of September. All agreed on initial submission, give parents a months’ notice and advise in next week’s newsletter. This is basically cost with a minimum of $1 profit per item.
Moved: Penny Whatman, Seconded: Corrie Howes.
5.6 Ground Committee Report. No report submitted.
5.7 SIFC (School Improvement and Finance Committee) Report. No report submitted.
5.7.1 Corrie asked Kylie for minutes. Tristen advised that last meeting they discussed play space plan options & staffing due to maternity leave. We have been successful in our application to the Chaplaincy program. Everyone present was happy for Ruth to assist Simon in the interview process.
Moved: Corrie Howes, Seconded: Rob Richards.
5.8 Fundraising Committee. No report submitted
