Reports and Updates Principal
Storm damage during the summer holidays included water damage to the admin block and staff room and interruption of electricity supply to 10 classrooms due to a damaged cable found under the carpark on the northern side of the school hall. Both incidents are under investigation. Initial findings indicate negligence of the government contractor during construction of the admin building and the carpark.
Creative Play Spaces Playground installation has begun. The site has been formed into two levels with seating, borders and play equipment installed. Continuing works include flattening soil on both levels, creation of mound for slippery dip and spread of soft fall. The project is on track for completion mid February.
The school will provide 14 classes in 2016 including 2 kindergarten classes. The school welcomes new AP Stage 1 Teacher Ms Louisa De Souza and Mr Macgregor in Stage 3.
A Staff Planning Day was held at the end of 2015. The achievement of milestones for 2015 were documented and new milestones for 2016 were created. These milestones are linked to each of the School Plan 2015-2017 Strategic Directions.
To date 60% of all students have purchased a book pack. Online payments can now be made via the school website and parents are beginning to utilise this new payment option.

Possible staff presentations to be provided for parents at P&C meetings in 2016 include:
Student goal setting and student led conference process
New curriculum: history, geography, science
SPPS CAPA program Further ideas will be generated through a Parents Talking to Parents session held during Term 1 and a digital option provided for parents who are unable to attend an ‘after assembly’ session. A date for the ‘after assembly’ session will be made at the next P&C Meeting (Tues 9 Feb).
SIFC will continue to investigate options that allow for better communication with the school community. Initial discussion included the use of digital video, updating and expansion of the schools website and linking ideas between the P&C Facebook page and the schools website to encourage more frequent visitation.
